In 2014 she applied for a passport and was fined heavily for having more children than government policy foresaw. For these two reasons she attended an open re-education camp for two years (2014-2016), coming in the morning and going home in the evening. Each day. She had to write letters of regret and express her regret. They were not allowed to answer their phones and even if it rang they could be punished or yelled at, so she usually closed the phone when she was summoned in the morning. This was very normal around Kashgar at this time.
