Meng Hong (alias: Zhang Qin) was born on June 24, 1974. She is ethnically Han, has a junior high school education, and had no steady employment at the time of her arrest [although the translated verdict later says that she operated a shop at some point].

Meng Hong was allegedly a member of the Church of Almighty God, having joined in or after 2005.

The victim was criminally detained on August 15, 2014. Authorities also seized a number of items belonging to the victim that were allegedly used for the activities of the Church of Almighty God.

The victim was initially held at the Yining Detention Center, and formally arrested on September 20, 2014.

At some point [presumably in 2015, judging by others in the verdict], the victim was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.

The victim was convicted of "sabotaging the enforcement of laws by organizing and utilizing cult organizations".

The allegations against her were that she participated in member gatherings of the Church of Almighty God (CAG) on numerous occasions, watched, studied and exchanged CAG "contents", [sic] "received arrangements from her elder sister Meng Xiumei", and used the shop she operated to store, receive, and relay CAG instructions, books, video materials, and more. She was additionally alleged to have donated 800 RMB to the CAG during the period from 2011 to 2013, which her elder sister, Meng Xiumei, allegedly then used to buy a mobile hard disk for use in "producing videos that fabricate and distort the facts".
