One report marks him as a "flowback-prevention person" and notes that he arrived via the Urumqi airport on October 10, 2017, going by the TS-256 police station. It is not stated if he was detained then.

He was also checked by the police in Urumqi on January 14, 2018, with the record noting that he belonged to "another class of people to be monitored" (其他关注对象), and that he should be released after being checked (核实后放行).

[There is still a high likelihood of his being detained, or having been detained, at some point in 2017-2018, however, given his red police tags.] Previously detained following the July 5, 2009 incident.
