On November 19, 2018, a visiting police officer found out that Tursunay was planning to attend a gathering of residents at the No. 2 Building (with the neighborhood administration then deciding to keep close watch over the meeting, in case something "irregular" happened).

A November 15, 2018 report mentioned that she was hospitalized because of rhachitis.

On February 27, 2019, it was reported that her workplace found her behavior/performance very satisfactory (表现良好), to the point that the workplace no longer found it necessary to monitor her.

However, on March 11, 2019 it was reported that her behavior was "abnormal", with the security guard of her residential area also reporting that many of the ethnic-minority individuals going to her place lately did not want to scan their faces. Released from re-education camp.
