He received a two-year prison sentence and was placed in a labour camp for teenagers in Urumchi (he was a minor at the time of the sentence). He and some of his classmates were arrested for watching Uyghur-language videos on their mobile phone and were sentenced for participating in a terrorist group. The existence of the terrorist group or its name have not been specified by Chinese authorities.
His current status is unclear. As the two-year term should be over by now, Ablikim should have been released, but this cannot be verified.
