Nurbolat was detained on August 9, 2017. He was later released on September 1, 2017 and then arrested again in November 2017 and allegedly taken to a camp.

It was later heard, though not confirmed, that he had been sentenced to 25 years in prison. Testimony 1: Detained in August 2017 without any reason, was released after a few days, and after a few days arrested again.
