current location

"Zekti Prison" in Kunes County. [This is presumably the new Kunes Prison, which is just south of Zekti. Zekti Municipality itself does not appear to have any detention facilities.]

chronology of detention(s)

Nurbolat was detained on August 9, 2017. He was later released on September 1, 2017 and then arrested again in November 2017 and allegedly taken to a camp.

It was later heard, though not confirmed, that he had been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

suspected and/or official reason(s) for detention

According to the victim's daughter, Razia, he was detained for sending his daughters to Kazakhstan.

The victim's nephew, Baqtiyar, has stated that his detention was due to his being an imam.

last reported status

Rumored to have been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

He has health issues, having recently had a pulmonary segmentectomy. He has difficulty breathing.

[There is a good likelihood of the victim being subjected to forced labor, as the Yixin Ruiyuan Industry & Commerce LLC (伊新瑞源工贸有限责任公司) operates out of Kunes Prison.]

how testifier(s) learned of victim's situation

Not stated.
