Zulpiye Jalalidin is married and has two sons. She was previously a math teacher, now retired, at the Urumqi No. 2 middle school and holds a senior teacher qualification.name: Zulpiya Jalaleddin

She was arrested immediately after her return to China from the USA in January 2018 and has been imprisoned since then. Her husband Jurat Nizamidin, 54, former senior editor at Xinjiang Daily newspaper, lives in USA together with their son.
Based on information obtained from a testimony event held in early 2019 (Testimony 1), she was a (Testimony 7: retired) math teacher at Urumqi No.2 middle school. DOB: December 6, 1967. According to information in an RFA report, she holds a senior teacher qualification.

According to her relatives, Zulpiye was arrested on January 4, 2018, immediately after her return to China from a six-month stay in the United States. In their official correspondence with Australian counterparts, the Chinese authorities claimed that the arrest took place on November 6, 2018, however.
In 2019, her husband posted on Facebook that she had been released for three days for Qurban Eid in August. During that time, her two sons were able to talk with her on the phone. She said that she was grateful to the government, because she became a good woman and good mother through education, while adding that she might "finish school" very soon.
On September 15, 2019, Zulpiye's son Almas received news that his mother had been released and was under house arrest. From RFA report based on victim's husband's FB post: The victim's husband posted on his FB that his two sons talked to his wife during the Qurban Eid. He said that his wife was released for three days because of the Qurban Eid (August 2019). On the phone, she said that she is grateful for the government because she became a good woman and a good mother through education and she also said that she might finish school very soon.

Testimony 7: Nobody in Almas Nizamidin's family was notified at the time of Zulpiye Jalalidin's January 2018 arrest. It was only when Almas Nizamidin's family contacted "their grandparents" [precise meaning unclear, but presumably referring to Almas Nizamidin's grandparents] that they learnt of Zulpiye Jalalidin's detention.

Your wife, Ms Buzainafu Abudourexiti, was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and 2 years deprivation of political rights on 5 June 2017 for the crime of "assembling a crowd to disturb social order".
The authorities say that body examinations conducted before her arrest showed that she was not pregnant.
